MHWildlife.com Mat is a Seattle based photographer but what exactly does he specialize in? Well since he is often called a wedding photographer it should be said that he shoots weddings pretty dang good. It is often said (by his Mom) that Mat Hayward is the best Rock Photographer on the Planet today. He is an excellent portrait photographer though he will only shoot old people, young people and middle aged people. He often photographs super cute babies but he is more than willing to shoot the ugly ones too. I promise he will pretend that he thinks your baby is the cutest one ever no matter what! The same concept applies for adults. Sexy or freakish, fat or skinny, Mat will shoot you! Mat loves to shoot music! Rock Photographer is a title he would love to have. The Black Keys, Cake, Devo, Broken Bells, Jimmy Eat World, The XX, Mumford and Sons, Vampire Weekend, X-Japan, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Mickey Avalon, Motley Crue, the Dropkick Murphy's, Devo and many many other bands have been photographed by Mat. He has traveled the world to shoot wild animals and traveled across town to shoot them in captivity. He shoots sports such as football, baseball, surfing and skeet (the skeet part is made up but it would be cool). Mat shoots celebrities and people that are only loved by their Mom. Mat will take a picture of pretty much anything and he will do it pretty much anywhere. Head shots are not out of the question but please, only for actors that are going to be famous some day. No hacks please. He shoots for the Woodland Park Zoo and has done so for years. He's been published a handful of times in various periodicals ranging from Popular Photography Magazine to the Seattle Post Intelligencer. Mat has even had his work published in the frames (you know, the pics that come in the frame you purchase...think of the money I save on prints!) After a great concert, Mat once got to pose for a picture with Ingrid Michaelson on stage in Sacramento. Mat is so awkward that the pose somehow turned into an improv slow dance where he stepped on her toes a few times then giggled like a 12 year old. Yep, he's a funny freak.
